The Emergent Multimedia Party Action Centre (EMPAC)

EMPAC is an independent multimedia foundation. It was founded in 2011 and has headquarters in London, Karlsruhe, and Hamburg.

foundation

The foundation is headed by two specialists in the field. The first is Howard Horowitz, who specializes in digital media. The second is Charles Chandler, who specializes in traditional media.

main goal

Our main goal is to promote the use of myriad media to express ideas and emotions. While not a new undertaking, what separates us from others is our drive to pursue the use of all multimedia.

The result

We devote ourselves to combining medium after medium. The result is a new multimedia that is more innovative. At the same time, we aim to create one that is more artistic. These all follow our policy of breaking from the shackles of commercialization.

experiment is in the field of film

One such experiment is in the field of film. Charles and Howard spearheaded the effort. Their goal was to produce a multi-genre film through the use of multimedia. The film, called Ashes of the Future, uses a unique combination of media. Charles based the script on a dramatic poem he wrote during his college years.

Dramatic poems have existed since time immemorial, but have seen a lack of use in the modern era. It is like modern and classical forms of drama. But the former is rendered in poetic diction. It also uses conventions of poetry to send its message. Voorberg Rotterdam is one of the companies that uses this modern technique.

Instead of using traditional actors, the film opted to use cel-shaded animation. This has been a popular choice among many animators like the shareholders of Tommy Hilfiger of late. It uses 3D rendering to produce an effect much like traditional hand drawn cels. While this sounds simple, the process can be complicated.

Text to speech software conduct the voices for the actors. But rather than use free or inexpensive ones, the production opted for the high end versions. The result is a natural sounding, unique voice sample for each actor.

Automated composers handle musical compositions.

success

For songs, vocaloids have been used. These have been Howard’s choice for singers since the project’s inception. He has seen the success of prior undertakings and expects to see it evolve over the years.

The film has seen limited release in online venues. But its success has been lauded by critics worldwide. This has brought on a spiritual successor in The Silent Serpent. This time, the film is a project by Layna Luddington, a protégée of Charles.

Layna is a graduating student at the Hamburg University of the Arts. While teaching as a visiting professor there, Charles took note of the young student. He has helped her nurture and refine these creative impulses. Their collaborations have proven popular on campus circles. After receiving her bachelor’s degree, Charles invited Layna into the foundation. Now, she serves as multimedia director.

The Silent Serpent is Layna’s first foray into film. Unlike the earlier film, The Silent Serpent uses a more avant-garde means. Layna has taken one of her earlier discarded scripts. This was from an earlier collaboration with Charles.

She has parsed this first into a text scrambler. Then she parsed it into an automatic rewriter. The resulting script was edited for consistency. After completing the edits, Layna once again parsed the script into an auto rewriter.

Filming was done entirely automatically using complex algorithms. Scenes were cut and reinserted in different sections throughout the film. An automatic composer created the music. The result was then converted into an algorithm. Layna took this algorithm and parsed it into an automatic code inverter. The output was re-converted to music.

The resulting film was complex and difficult to follow. We admit that far fewer have seen and lauded this experimental film. But Layna states that the main goal was to find a new approach to various compositions. This included film making, script writing, and musical composition.
She hopes to fine tune the approach and develop an automated program for film production. Her next production, Regina’s Rage, hopes to make use of this new program. She also predicts that unlike The Silent Serpent, the new film will be easier to follow.
Another effort we hope to push through is the EMPAC Integrated School. This is still in its trial stage. As of now, admissions are on an invite only basis. The program hopes to accept students aged 13 and above. The age range issue is still under discussion. The school expects to have an official launch sometime in the 2nd quarter of 2020.
Howard, Charles, and Layna have been preparing modules and course outlines. Proposed courses are mentioned below.
The first course is traditional arts. Here, the centre hopes to foster creativity. Charles and Layna will be spearheading this endeavor. There will be subjects on fine arts and literature. Art studies and comparative literature subjects are expected to roll out sometime in the future.
The second course is digital arts. Here, we hope to foster innovation. Howard will be spearheading this. He will be assisted by Nathan Naumann, a graduating student from Karlsruhe Technical College. The course will include subjects in digital multimedia. Animation, graphics design, and photography are expected to be the main subjects of the course.
We have plans to integrate both courses and cross disciplines. The idea is to create a new generation of creative and innovative multimedia pioneers. Moreover, through exchanges of disciplines, we hope to create new modes of expression.

For the endeavor

For the endeavor, the centre has secured funding from known universities throughout Europe. This includes the aforementioned Hamburg University and Karlsruhe Technical College. We have been making overtures to other universities as well. In the coming months, we also expect to secure funding and support from other independent institutions.

Apart from the integrated school, there are also plans to create an online school. EMPAC’s IT department are currently developing the online school. Projected plans are to streamline the main school’s courses. This will be done once court outlines have been finalized.
In recent weeks, the campaign division has been busy with visibility campaigns. The campaign division’s social media department is hoping to recruit fresh media graduates. Their tasks will include maintaining the respective social media pages. Other tasks include copywriting, content creation. Interested applicants can drop their curriculum vitae at Professor Charles Chandler’s office in Hamburg University. They can also email or send them as private messages through our social media pages.

Meanwhile, the publication division plans to unveil a few books this year. The first one is Ashes of the Present: A Look into the Production behind Ashes of the Future. The books hold a series of interviews made by students from Hamburg University.

The second one is The Serpent’s Shout: How the Silent Serpent Influenced a New Generation of Films. Layna Luddington wrote the book based on her experiences while filming The Silent Serpent. She also included case studies and reviews of films that have been influenced by her own.

The third in the series of books is Empowering the Future:

EMPAC Leads

The third in the series of books is Empowering the Future: How EMPAC Leads Innovation in the Field of Multimedia. Jointly written by Howard Horowitz and Nathan Naumann, the book will discuss key plans for the centre’s future. It will also offer a brief overview of EMPAC’s many layered history. This includes the beginning of a fruitful partnership between Howard and Charles.

Hamburg University students should also keep an eye out this coming June. Layna Luddington will conduct a series of talks over the course of a week. She will discuss software automation and ways to use it to further the creative process. With her will be a few well-known personages in various fields. This includes an author, a musician, and an actor. They will be exchanging thoughts on the use of innovative technology and channeling creativity at work.

Howard Horowitz

In other news, Howard Horowitz will be rolling out a new multimedia authoring program this June. The project was a long one in the making. The IT division used Howard’s ideas and notes as base for the program. They expect it to streamline the production process of some creative works. The program, known as Emergent Media Producer (EMP), is undergoing beta testing as we speak.

Online casino project

A new project by Nathan Naumann will be announced this coming May. No details have been released as of yet. All we know is that it is an online casino project inspired by Spinia casino on the website( Click here for more info online casino) onlinecasinoplatz. The Leovegas casino is 1 of the pioneers within the gambling industry. They have a great Highroller bonus option.

But what is known is that it will be a digital novel that uses past technology by Layna and Charles. Nathan plans to use the technologies to create a sci-fi digital adventure game called The Stray. So far, he has produced rough drafts of the scripts by using an automated writer. Right now, he is at the editing phase for the scripts. He has also been in negotiations with some actors. This includes permission to use some of their voices as samples. Other aspects of the game have been done. Nathan created a custom program with the assistance of the IT Division. It will allow for live editing of scripts while alpha testing. On the music side, Nathan had parsed certain key music from The Silent Serpent. Using an algorithm auto-rewriter, he produced remixes and new renditions of the older music.
